Lulu – Live
To coincide with Lulu’s 60th birthday, Wienerworld are proud to announce their re-promotion of Lulu – Live (WNRD7004) scheduled for 3 November 2008. This electric DVD was filmed during her 1989 sell-out Red Hot Tour and captures the magic of Glasgow’s favourite daughter on her home ground, doing what she does best – performing live.
Lulu – Live takes an in-depth look at Lulu’s rise to success and, coupled with 14 tracks featuring over 55 minutes of music, is a perfect tribute to her own success story as she rocks the rafters of the Glasgow Pavillion.
From early beginnings in Glasgow aged 14 she joined a local group called The Gleneagles and shot to fame in 1966 when she became the first British female singer to perform behind the Iron curtain whilst touring with The Hollies. In 1967 Lulu’s first film role was To Sir With Love and in 1969 she represented Great Britain in the Eurovision Song Contest singing Boom Bang-a-Bang when she came joint first.
After five years away from the UK charts she had a number 3 hit in 1974 with The Man Who Sold The World. In 1987 she starred as Adrian Mole’s mother Pauline in the series The Growing Pains of Adrian Mole and later that year was awarded the Golden Badge of Merit for services to the British Industry by The British Academy of Song Writers, Composers and Authors. In 2000 she was awarded the OBE for her services to music and most recently has achieved Gold success with her latest collaboration album with a host of stars including Elton John and Atomic Kitten.
Lulu – Live to a sell-out audience stands as a testimony to a remarkable lady.
