Larry Carlton & Robben Ford – Live in Tokyo

> This unique paring of two all-time great guitar legends delivers an unforgettable evening of duelling guitar solos and an uncompromising evening of The Blues performed the way it was meant to be

Nineteen-time GRAMMY NOMINEE, four-time GRAMMY WINNER and all-time guitar great, Larry Carlton established himself from his first recording, A Little Help From My Friends. His studio credits include musicians and groups like Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Michael Jackson, Sammy Davis Jr., Herb Alpert, Quincy Jones, Bobby Bland, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and literally dozens of others.

Playing on the strings for over 4 decades and arguably one of the era’s most respected jazz guitarists, Carlton has had record productions with Steely Dan to album recordings with John Lennon and Michael Jackson.  He has rightfully earned the title “one of the best guitarists in rock music” (Rolling Stone Magazine).

Larry’s playing style was most influenced by guitarists Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Barney Kessel and B. B. King. Saxophonist John Coltrane has also made a notable impression on Carlton, and Carlton’s live albums have featured cuts from Miles Davis’s hallmark Kind of Blue.

Robben Ford at 18 was playing with George Harrison, Joni Mitchell, Charlie Musselwhite, Jimmy Witherspoon and the L.A. Express with Tom Scott. He was a founding member of the Yellowjackets, then went on to tour with Miles Davis, Sadao Watanabe and Little Feat. In 1992 he returned to his roots: the blues – a genre he masters in most exquisite grand style.
