Herbie Mann – Peace Pieces

> Peace Pieces is a tribute album to the late pianist Bill Evans, one of Mann’s favourite musicians
 
> Renowned American trumpeter and flugelhornist Randy Brecker guests on a couple of tracks
 
> The rhythm section comprises of guitarist Bruce Dunlap, bassist Eddie Gomez, drummer Louis Nash and percussionist Sammy Figueroa
 
> A few of the pieces are heated while others are quite introspective but all of the music is both thoughtful and swinging!

Herbie Mann played a wide variety of music throughout his career. He became quite popular in the 1960s, but in the ’70s became so immersed in pop and various types of world music that he seemed lost to jazz. However, Mann never lost his ability to improvise creatively as his later recordings attest.
