DJ Too Tuff – Behold The Detonator

Legendary Tuff Crew DJ and founder Too Tuff presents his debut solo album. Putting his turntable skills on full display, Behold The Detonator is nearly 40 minutes of scratch wizardry, over block rocking beats.

Tuff Crew, dubbed “Philly’s First Rap Supergroup”, released 4 albums between 1985 and 1991, performing with Public Enemy and Run DMC along the way, as well as taking production from fellow Ruffnation alumni Ultramagnetic MCs on their debut album. Characterised by a classic 808 drum sound, mixed with an E-mu SP-12 sampler and aggressive scratch DJing, they were an ethnically diverse group who told stories of life in Philadelphia.

This full-length effort follows DJ Too Tuff’s Lost Archives EP, released in 2022. The set features an exclusive DJ favourite: an instrumental version of the Tuff Crew hit ‘My Part of Town’!
