Vince Guaraldi’s Soundtrack for “It Was a Short Summer, Charlie Brown,” released for the first time to celebrate the specials 55th anniversary

The timeless 6th animated Peanuts® special, from writer and creator Charles Schulz, director Bill Melendez and producers Melendez and Lee Mendelson. Originally the special aired in September 27, 1969 on CBS-TV. The album includes the original recordings that comprise the cues from the Special across twenty-six tracks, plus another 6 alternative tracks that have never been released or heard before.

Guaraldi lovingly created the soundtrack for the summer camp adventure where Charlie Brown and his gang face off against the girls camp lead by Peppermint Patty. The large jazz combo album also includes the best rendition of Guaraldi classic, “Love Will Come (Nova Bossa)” as well as the first use of additional percussion in Victor Feldman.

The recording features Guaraldi (piano), Monty Budwig (double bass), Jack Sperling (drums), Conti and Pete Candoli (trumpet), Frank Rosolino (trombone), Victor Feldman (percussion), Herb Ellis (guitar), Willian Hood and Peter Christlieb (woodwind), and John Scott Trotter as the orchestra leader. The soundtrack was produced by Sean and Jason Mendelson and restored and re-mastered by Vinson Hudson.

The CD has an 8-page insert and will have liner notes that give a track-by-track analysis by Derrick Bang (author of “Vince Guaraldi at the Piano”) and notes from Sean and Jason Mendelson, sons of Peanuts® producer Lee Mendelson. The album packaging also includes images from the special and images of historical documents from the found tapes.

A classic concert including the delightfully animated short film by Cat Stevens entitled Teaser And The Firecat, with wacky narration by Spike Milligan.

A Classic Concert: Cat Stevens – Tea For The Tillerman Live, originally released for the first time ever on DVD on 28 July 2008 to coincide with Yusuf’s 60th birthday, is now being re-promoted to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the artist’s definitive fourth album that made him an international star.

This music DVD, which is bound to enthrall and entertain, includes the delightfully animated short film by Cat Stevens entitled Teaser And The Firecat, with wacky narration by Spike Milligan.

Cat Stevens’ recording career spanned 12 years from October 1966 to November 1978. In all, he recorded 11 albums but his most creative and interesting period was probably while he was recording Tea For The Tillerman and Teaser And The Firecat during 1970 and 1971.

With the hit single Wild World entering the US charts in 1971, Cat Stevens flew to America where this intimate concert, which features the best of his repertoire at the time, was recorded. This live rare classic performance in its simplicity, captures the warmth of his studio recordings but with even more passion and depth. In 2020, maybe people will hear these songs in a different way than they did before.

After all these years, it is good to be reminded of Cat Stevens’ original and creative talents and the huge contribution he made to the singer/songwriter genre. Favourites such as Hard Headed Woman, Longer Boats, Wild World, Where Do The Children Play?, On The Road To Find Out and of course, Moonshadow, are bound to please the millions of fans of this artist.

Tracks:

Moonshadow · On The Road To Find Out · Where Do The Children Play? · Wild World · = Miles From Nowhere · Longer Boats · Father And Son · Hard Headed Woman

Bonus Features:

Includes the animated short film Teaser And The Firecat, narrated by Spike Milligan

• It’s his first new mini album release in over 10 years and reaffirms Jim’s prowess as one of the world’s most prolific singer/songwriters

• Jim commented on the EP: “So here it is, the Lost In Space EP! It was an absolute blast putting this together. Straight ahead rock ‘n roll with ‘surfin’ harmonies on Mega Drive. It came together very quickly and is none the worse for it. Hope you enjoy – ROCK ON!”

• Jim will also be releasing a digital-only single off the EP (also called Lost In Space) on 6 June which is destined to be another smash hit

• Jim commented on the single: “Lost in Space was written deliberately as a pop song. Of all the songs I have come up with, this is one of my favourites. The ideas portrayed in the song are of someone spending their life living in an inner world, virtually oblivious to normal life. Some might say I have unwittingly written about myself!”

Jim Lea, most notable for his playing of bass guitar, keyboards, violin, guitar and singing vocals in Slade and for writing all of their hits, is no newcomer to the singer/songwriter scene and he continues to be one of the most played artists on radio across the world.

Recorded over two days in early January of 2017, “Detour Ahead: The Music of Billie Holiday” is just that homage; John’s tribute to the great Lady Day.

Arranged, produced and mixed by Asbury Jukes saxophonist John Isley, the album is an 8 song offering of all original arrangements and interpretations of some of Billie’s most classic songs as well as a few hidden gems.

While embracing the jazz origins of these songs, the music is also distinctly contemporary, showcasing at length John’s strengths: his sense of drama and humour, his heartfelt delivery while telling beautiful stories, and his deeply soulful harmonica playing.

The extent of John’s connection to this music is readily evident in his poignant lyrical delivery.

“Detour Ahead: The Music of Billie Holiday” is John’s labour of love, paying sincere tribute to Billie’s far reaching legacy.

Brand new 6 track EP from singer, songwriter and musician Graham Gouldman

Features the recently released single Let’s Get Lost

Gatefold-style digipack complete with 8 page booklet including photos and lyrics to all songs

Gouldman will be touring the U.K. under the banner ‘Heart Full Of Songs’ with fellow musicians Iain Hornal, Ciaran Jeremiah and Dave Cobby during September and October as well as performing at a number of 10cc dates throughout the rest of the year

“The album title, Play Nicely And Share, came from something my wife Ariella says to me before I go to a recording session or go on tour but it can be applied to anything. Play nicely, in other words, do the best you can do, and share, let others benefit from what you do.” – Graham Gouldman

Graham was born on May 10th 1946 in Manchester, England. He was given his first guitar at age eleven and started forming and working with local bands at age fifteen. Inspired by The Beatles and encouraged by his parents Betty and Hymie, who often helped him with lyrics and song titles, Graham started writing songs.

He had his first hit as a songwriter in 1965 writing ‘For Your Love’ for the Yardbirds and also wrote their follow up hits ‘Heart Full of Soul’ and ‘Evil Hearted You’. In the same year The Hollies recorded his song ‘Look Through Any Window’ followed by ‘Bus Stop’ in 1966 as well as hits with Herman’s Hermits ‘Listen People’ and ‘No Milk Today’.

In 1972, along with Eric Stewart, Kevin Godley and Lol Creme, he formed 10cc. He co-wrote many of their hits including ‘Rubber Bullets,’ ‘I’m Not In Love,’ ‘The Things We Do For Love’ and ‘Dreadlock Holiday’. It’s the enduring popularity of these tracks and Graham’s love of playing songs in their simplest form, acoustically, that led him and fellow 10cc members Rick Fenn, Mick Wilson and Mike Stevens, into performing some of them – just with vocals and acoustic guitars – at 10cc concerts.

During the 1980s Graham formed ‘Wax’ with the late Andrew Gold. They enjoyed chart success in Europe with hits ‘Right Between the Eyes’ and ‘Bridge To Your Heart’.

Graham was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of fame in 2014 and received the BMI (Broadcast Music Inc) icon award in 2015.
