Jet Harris - From There To Here

Trailer

In Memory of Jet Harris MBE 1939-2011

A teenage Jet Harris played double bass in the jazz clubs and coffee bars of the late 1950s.  He was the first musician in the UK to play the electric bass guitar.  While working at the Two I’s coffee bar in Soho, Cliff Richard invited Jet to join his group The Drifters, which later became The Shadows.  Jet left The Shadows in 1962 and achieved success as a solo artist.  He then teamed up with fellow ex-Shadow Tony Meehan and had a string of hits including the number one “Diamonds”.

Jet was seriously injured in a car crash in 1963, which was a huge set back to his career, though he later returned to the stage and his loyal fans guaranteed him an enthusiastic following.   Billie Davis was promoting Jet’s 50th Anniversary tour and suggested making the film in 2009.  It also coincided with Jet’s last album “The Journey” produced by Nigel Hopkins. The subsequent theatre shows put Jet back in the spotlight and in 2010 he was awarded an MBE.

Directed and edited by Mark Windows, “From There to Here” documents Jet Harris’s incredible life and is an intimate, witty and often poignant film.  The DVD features contributions from a host of stars and musicians including Marty Wilde, Wee Willie Harris, Mike Berry, Frank Allen, Mo Foster and also Colin Pryce Jones of The Rapiers, who spent many years touring with Jet.

Jet passed away on 18 March 2011, aged 71 but his loyal fans still keep his memory alive.

Bonus:

The one hour “Backstage Pass” bonus DVD is packed with anecdotes and rock n roll history, again with contributions from a host of musicians.
